Summary

“The queen of beach reads” (New York Magazine) and #1 New York Times bestselling author delivers an immensely satisfying page-turner in this tale about a summer of scandal at a storied Nantucket hotel。

Fresh off a bad breakup with a longtime boyfriend, Nantucket sweetheart Lizbet Keaton is desperately seeking a second act。 When she’s named the new general manager of the Hotel Nantucket, a once Gilded Age gem turned abandoned eyesore, she hopes that her local expertise and charismatic staff can win the favor of their new London billionaire owner, Xavier Darling, as well as that of Shelly Carpenter, the wildly popular Instagram tastemaker who can help put them back on the map。 And while the Hotel Nantucket appears to be a blissful paradise, complete with a celebrity chef-run restaurant and an idyllic wellness center, there’s a lot of drama behind closed doors。 The staff (and guests) have complicated pasts, and the hotel can’t seem to overcome the bad reputation it earned in 1922 when a tragic fire killed nineteen-year-old chambermaid Grace Hadley。 With Grace gleefully haunting the halls, a staff harboring all kinds of secrets, and Lizbet’s own romantic uncertainty, is the Hotel Nantucket destined for success or doom?

Filled with the emotional depth and multiple points of view that characterize Hilderbrand’s novels (The Blue Bistro, Golden Girl) as well as an added dash of Roaring Twenties history, The Hotel Nantucket offers something for everyone in this compelling summer drama。

Perfect vacation read and with the addition of a ghost story, gives a nice difference from her usual books。

Although the story is interesting, I'm not a fan of authors using text message abbreviations in their writing instead of actually writing it out。 Although the story is interesting, I'm not a fan of authors using text message abbreviations in their writing instead of actually writing it out。 。。。more

Loved this book! It was like spending a summer in Nantucket with a lovely staff… each character having their own unique personalities and drama!

totally charming and enjoyable。 i almost put it down when the modern language and references first appeared to me, but that's my own bias; i haven't loved many books that have come out in the last few years。 BUT i found this to be really fun。 i enjoy all of the threads of mystery woven through。 refreshing! totally charming and enjoyable。 i almost put it down when the modern language and references first appeared to me, but that's my own bias; i haven't loved many books that have come out in the last few years。 BUT i found this to be really fun。 i enjoy all of the threads of mystery woven through。 refreshing! 。。。more

Perfect lazy weekend reading。 Well paced with engaging characters。

This has been my favorite Elin Hilderbrand book so far! Her books don’t always end with everything tied up in a neat little package but that’s what makes them interesting。 This was such a fun read that I couldn’t wait to pick it up again each night and immerse myself in the happenings at the hotel。

Solid 4。5This is the first novel I have read by Elin and I really enjoyed it。 I may have been influenced as I love the hotel industry and thought that Lizbet"s world could have been my world but overall an easy and fun read。 I'm excited to read more of her books。 Solid 4。5This is the first novel I have read by Elin and I really enjoyed it。 I may have been influenced as I love the hotel industry and thought that Lizbet"s world could have been my world but overall an easy and fun read。 I'm excited to read more of her books。 。。。more

LOVED this read! A light and enjoyable read, definitely one to make you feel like you’re on vacation。 I like that there’s a lot of characters but they’re not hard to remember or keep track of, and you end up attached。 Each one has a full story and it was fun to read。 Also loved Grace, didn’t expect her but it was an adorable addition。 The Blue Book at the end is also extremely helpful, as I’ve always wanted to visit Nantucket, I’ll keep it in mind!

It was between a 4and 5 so 5 it is。 Good book, would make a great summer read。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 A nice and easy beach read。 I loved the hotel descriptions of the lush lodgings and yummy foods。 Sometimes the ghost story and some of the side characters were trite, hard to read, or boring。 The main character, Lizbet, had the most interesting storyline。 Don’t expect a complex thrilling read, but instead a comforting beach day ride to help you relax and transport you to Nantucket。 The only thing that constantly annoyed me was the jokes about current slang from Grace - cringey!

A fun romp!

I did like this book, just felt a little boring in comparison to all the thrillers I’ve been reading

More like 3。5 stars。 Fun quick read, murder-ghost mystery subplot weaved into the story of a recently bought hotel looking to get the highest rating they can achieve

A perfect light read! “I’ve always thought of mosaic as this big metaphor for my life,” she says。 “All these jagged, incongruous pieces…” She holds up a small shard of milky jade-green glass。 “These are like the things that happen to you。 But if it’s laid out a certain way and if you take a step back from it, it makes sense。”

Erin MacMillan

Whimsical read that reminded me a lot of the Crazy Rich Asian series。

Not even sure what to rate this one! I wanted to like it, and it was a quick/enthralling read, but it seemed like the first200 pages were a lead-up to 50 pages of a resolution。 Would’ve loved for the storyline to unfold more and not jump around so much。 Eager to try this author again soon。

There were a lot of storylines going on to really feel connected to any of the characters。 Because there was so much bouncing around it was hard to keep up。 Lizbeth is the hotel manager and grace is the ghost that haunts the hotel。

Just like any good summer, I didn’t want this book to end! I fell in love with the characters and Nantucket (I hope to go someday!)。 This was such a feel good story, with just enough drama to keep readers interested and hooked。 This is my second Elin Hilderbrand book (Golden Girl was my first), and I can’t wait to read another。 Grace, the ghost, was such an extraordinary character。 I loved watching her watch over the hotel, staff, and the guests。 The other staff members were just as great and I Just like any good summer, I didn’t want this book to end! Fun read about the hospitality world and an unexpected ending!

The audible gasp I made towards the end of the book solidified the 5th star。 This was just such an enjoyable read。 I can't think of any other way to describe it。 If you need a fun, beachy, feel-good break, I highly recommend this one。 The audible gasp I made towards the end of the book solidified the 5th star。 This was just such an enjoyable read。 I can't think of any other way to describe it。 If you need a fun, beachy, feel-good break, I highly recommend this one。 。。。more

As usual I love Elin Hilderbrand’s stories。 This book did not disappoint me。 An easy read and just when you think you know the ending, you are surprised。

There is nothing better than an Elin Hilderbrand book。 She does such a good job of putting you right in with the characters so you feel you are there and experiencing all the gossip and goings-on。 This book is extra special because there is a part at the end that contains all of Ms。 Hilderbrand's recommendations for places to go and things to do on Nantucket。 I've read pretty much all of her books and she never disappoints! Enjoyed overall。 Some of the character story lines are weak。

Vicky

Ms Hilderbrand created a great read based on past characters and new ones。 All interesting and exciting to get to know。 Once again, the Nantucket story had this reader wanting for the next adventure!

I loved the Nantucket summer setting, especially with it currently cold and snowy。 It reminded me of my visit to Martha’s Vineyard。 I eventually became interested in the character’s stories but it took me a little while to remember who’s who。 I grew to love the characters。 I rated it a four instead of five because it was a little tough getting into。

Christie

This is a great read for someone looking for a bit of an escape。 Elin’s writing once again has me googling travel arrangements to Nantucket。 The characters in this story are fun and interesting enough to keep me reading。 I was in the mood for a light, easy and distracting read - this one checked all the boxes。

Such an easy, light, fun read。 Definitely a beach read, with its summery flare, but I enjoyed its escape into warmer weather in a cold English winter here。 If you want a sweet story to get lost in, this one is about the renovation of an old hotel in Nantucket and its trials with opening its first day (of many)。 Loved the characters, except one nameless who continually upset me, and the setting painted was lovely to imagine。 It’s got some little haunted treats and a few romantic moments too! This book made me so happy! It was fun and light and I kept routing for all the characters。 Then the surprise at the end。 Just overall a really nice story I throughly enjoyed 🥹

Alex

Surprise another audiobook。 I really debated between 3 and 4 stars for a while but ultimately it was four。 It grabbed my attention and was able to develop an abundance of interesting characters。 Not sure what I expected from the ending but it felt a little anticlimactic。 Regardless i overall very much enjoyed it。 The ghost as a third part set of eyes was an interesting touch。
